Seeking to get married to make you “happy” is asking for trouble because God didn’t intend for marriage, another person, or material things to make us happy. God is the missing piece of the puzzle- He is the only person who can make us truly happy. I know this to be a fact from personal experience.

Believe me when I state that if you are looking to get married to be happy or if that’s the reason why you got married- that the enemy/Satan will do whatever he can to make both you and your spouse miserable. Marriage alone is a target for Satan, he hates marriage because marriage is totally God’s idea- it’s an institution that God established to make us more like CHRIST JESUS/Christ-like.

Signs that you are not a candidate for marriage:

• If you are not willing to compromise- if it always has to go your way, you are NOT a candidate
• If you are selfish and dislike sharing your time or money/resources with others (your kids will resent you for not spending time with them because you’re self-absorbed
• If you have lust issues- if you can’t keep your eyes to yourself, please do yourself and the other person a favor and stay single
• If you are insecure and jealous
• and last but not least, if you don’t yet have a personal relationship with JESUS CHRIST because He is the only one who can complete you and make you happy

Here’s an excellent testimony of a couple who had no desire to get married because they were both in love with JESUS CHRIST but they knew wholeheartedly that God was orchestrating their marriage. Beautiful! That’s how you know that you know that you are ready to get married!
