Christian Books Are Good But…
Christian books are good but they cannot replace the wisdom and revelation of scripture/the Bible.
I recently came across an Instagram Live where renowned author Lysa Terkeurst was interviewing a former TV anchor (I can’t recall her name at the moment) and they were discussing Lysa’s current book Forgiving What You Can’t Forget.
As I listened I was doing as we sometimes do when we wish we can interject in the conversation.
Lysa like myself, has experienced a painful infidelity in her marriage. Lysa divorced her husband but many people, myself included prayed for her and the restoration of her marriage and thank GOD He heard our prayers and He is restoring their marriage. I say restoring because I know how extremely difficult it is to not only forgive the act of adultery but working to restore the relationship is even more difficult. That’s what they were talking about, the word Lysa used to describe the episodes when the grief randomly returns was the word “triggers”. In another Instagram Live, Lysa mentioned that one of those triggers came to her while she was grocery shopping at Walmart and she leaned her arms and head over the bananas in distress. That is clearly a sign of grief, my heart goes out to her. I am praying that she will somehow come across this post so that she can experience a divine deliverance thank can only come through the power of the Holy Spirit so that she may also lead her many followers also experience a divine deliverance which is the casting out of evil tormenting spirits such as grief and despair, in the mighty name of JESUS CHRIST I do pray.
What I wanted to interject as I listened was that her husband is very likely a (now recovering) sex addict struggling with lust and rejection demons and LORD knows what others. I also wanted to say that she and those who struggle overcome the pain/grief and/or struggle to forgive have failed to realize that when a spouse betrays/cheats on their spouse, they have done so through the enticement and help of demons. They didn’t cheat because their wife/spouse did or didn’t do something.
Scripture says that our battle is not against flesh and blood- our spouse (in this case) is a victim of not only his past but also of demonic influence:
Scripture: Ephesians 6:12
9And, ye masters, do the same things unto them, forbearing threatening: knowing that your Master also is in heaven; neither is there respect of persons with him. 10Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. 11Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.13Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. 14Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; 15And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
When we fail to recognize that our battle is not against flesh and blood we will very likely blame ourselves and/or become victims who struggle with grief, anger, rage, resentment, unforgiveness.
The fact is that there’s nothing a wife/spouse can do to stop their sex addict spouse from cheating because there is a demonic force controlling and using them to cause as much hurt as possible. The more pain the better for the enemy/demons. They do not have mercy! Men who have lust demons and are sex addicts have cheated on beautiful women (Hally Berry, Vannessa Bryant, Lysa Terkeurst to name a few).
As I listened to the IG Live, I thought and wanted to say to Lysa if I could was that she and anyone who has suffered a painful experience such as adultery or the loss of a child/family member that they need to contact a deliverance ministry and go through deliverance session or sessions needed to be delivered from the spirit of grief and possibly other spirits such as the spirit of oppression, heaviness, anger, rage, etc…
I know from experience because several years ago my family and I drove to Phoenix, Arizona to Michael W. Smith’s deliverance ministry Hardcore Christianity (I’ll link his ministry below) seeking deliverance mainly for our teenage daughter who was cutting/hurting herself at the time and also for my husband who was/may be struggling from sex addiction. A sex addict is worse than a drug addict because they are not only sinning against their spouse and children, but they are also sinning against their own body:
Scripture: 1 Corinthians 6:18
15Know ye not that your bodies are the members of Christ? shall I then take the members of Christ, and make them the members of an harlot? God forbid. 16What? know ye not that he which is joined to an harlot is one body? for two, saith he, shall be one flesh. 17But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit. 18Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body. 19What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? 20For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.
Brother Mike was led to pray for me also and as he prayed the Holy Spirit revealed to him and led him to cast out the spirit of grief, when he did that I sobbed uncontrollably. I know I was delivered because that heaviness that was evident in my countenance (I see it in pictures) was gone. My good and mighty LORD delivered me!
Sadly my daughter and husband were not delivered that night because you have to want to repent and forsake the sin that enslaves you. They continued sinning after that and I have yet to see genuine repentance. They are not the same but they have yet to surrender completely.
Here’s a teaching from Brother Mike’s YouTube channel that I pray will bless you if you have grief, pain, unforgiveness, etc… in your heart:
